Just out of curiosity. Will Google continue growing as a company and as a search engine? What's are future prospects for Google? What will be its long term rivals (if any) and what we can expect from them? Will Internet become a paid industry eventually or something will be left free? Any thoughts?
Well one thing I can think of is some heated competition from Microsoft. I want MS to bring some competition because there's more choices for us webmasters then. I think Google will be how Netscape ended out to be IMO. With the current Bigdaddy and Server Storage space issues going on it makes me frustrated as heck and I get a lot of scrapper sites when I do search Google.
What will most likely happen is Google will seem "old" just as "Winn Dixie" seems old now and is paving the way for "Publix" to become much larger. "Yahoo!" or another search, like "Ask", may become much more popular and cool to the general public Yahoo! has a lot of cool features that lack in Google... even Ask has an awesome page preview and bio image.
Everyone will have their surnames changed to Google. Hi! My name is George Google. What's your name? My name is Peter Google, and this is my boss Graeme Google and his secretary Fanny Google. The program called Google Earth will now be simply known as Google Google. There will be Google cars, Google buses, Google cabs, Google trains, Google grocery stores. I wonder if Mr Jobs knows about this?
my answer is a little bit sad... Google can't handle anymore with their toys... Too much transfer, too much power, too much everything... The most horrible thing is that index of Google is getting smaller and smaller so AdSense earnings are getting lower. If they will not find a solution for this situation soon it can be less pink that they thing it would be. Right now some people wchich earn with Adsense are lossing couple of $ per day. At the same time Google loses couple of milions $ per day...
Google for me is so out of shape anytime there's a major update. This is why I dislike Google compared to MSN / Yahoo.
Well, I think that competition with MSN with get tighter with Google after new Windows gets released. Microsoft is a smart company. They put a search toolbar into their Internet Explorer 7. By default, it is MSN search engine. Here is where everything will get started. Google has already filed a suit against it. Google is frightened that it will end up the way Netscape did when it tried to compete with Microsoft.
I think that the google mania has already passed ad many people are looking for other alternatives “search enginesâ€. I personally use A9 because I like the features they offer although it’s google powered.
I think Google is to internet what Microsoft was to PCs. Google will be facing really tough competition from Microsoft, with MS working to catch up in the web search area.
Good question Kasparoff, IMHO google is no longer just a search engine. they are transforming themselves to a big corpoaration just like MS. they are going into Software fileld, Email, Webstats, Geo Search, Blogs, and many other things. anyone who thinks The future is MS Vs Google, is so right. I am sure they have big plans on their way, like web browser, Office suite, or even an OS. Lets see what is going to happen.
