    I think this is true. I setup aaaa.bbb.com and bbb.com/aaaa which both pointed to the same place. They didn't redirect, but all the links on that page would go to dddd.com which was the real site. (so, dddd.com, aaaa.bbb.com and bbb.com/aaaa all had the same front page, but the real site was dddd.com)

    bbb.com/aaaa was indexed faster than aaaa.bbb.com. Then I 301 redirected /aaaa to dddd.com.

    Hopefully that makes sense :D
