I need to register this domain fusion outsidecatering dot co dot uk or something similar the reason being my initial site fusionoutside dot co dot uk lacks a muscle in google because it does not really specify what I do which is outside catering servicea and obviously I want to run my campaigns with fusionoustidedotcodotuk which will then been forwarded to fusionoutside one which is themain current page, what are the consequences of doing this can google punish me ?
Don't bother... Adding the word Catering to your domain is NOT going to really do anything for your rankings. You are wasting your time honestly. Having keywords in your domain name is not that influential in ranking unless your domain name EXACTLY matches the keyword phrase the person is searching for. This question gets asked here at least once per week. 2nd time in the last 2 days I've seen it. If you want your existing site to rank in Google.co.uk for "catering" then build links from other relevant sites with .co.uk TLDs pointing to the page on your site that you want to rank for "catering" and use the word "catering" as the link text. Getting a 2nd domain is going to double the amount of work and make your efforts half as effective.
Thanks for the reply which brings me to my second question which links are effective inbound or out bound ?
You want other sites to link to you with the keywords you want to rank for as the hyperlink's link text. When you link to other sites, you help them to rank for whatever keywords you hyplink as the link text. There are lots of ways to build links pointing to your site. Article Submission Directory Submission Guest blog posting Dofollow blog commenting Forum posting For example, right now you could have a signature link on your digitalpoint account and everytime you post something here, you'd get a backlink.
Get more inbound links from high pr pages with anchored keyword. Also make sure the quality of that page. Heavy outbound links on any particular page will reduce your backlink value. Other than that, if you want to concentrate on .co.uk traffic, set geosetting in google/webmaster at http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=62399
