I registered an expired domain last year, and right now, i received an email from the domain owner and he want me bring back his domain.

any idea of how much dollar should I offer in order to bring him back his former domain which is mine right now.

    the first think you can
    get some information about him
    (data mining)
and you can estimate by your self
how they maximal will pay the domain from you

dont give very big price or he will get out
and registered some related domain :)

just beed some calibrate to get some big $$$ :D

Post it and let the most experienced man evaluate it.And also you can ask the guy how much he is willing to pay.

Could just be nice and have him reimburse you for what you paid for it.

I've been through ICANN resolution twice now and I've lost both times to folks who flat out lied to ICANN and got away with it. Both times the folks let the domain lapse afterwards. Not a fun experience.

Gotten to the point I'm thinking about running for the board.

It depends what type of domain it is.

I personally would make the buying price a little higher than it is worth. If he declines that price and makes an offer, gradually decrease your price.

If you're looking to make a little profit I recommend asking a few question, see how much he needs the domain back and find out whether or not he'll offer you more than what you paid.

Ask him for an initial offer and then see whether you can bump it up say things like ''I really want to keep this domain'' etc something that'll make it seem like you really want to keep it. If he really want's it he'll make a decent offer if not and you want to sell it give it to him for no less than what you paid.

    let him price and bump...

also, it depends on the domain.. if you think he can register another domain that's close to what you have, dont price too much..

also, consider your future earnings with the site that you are currently running with the domain, that may help with pricing it

go to dnsaleprice.com and enter each keyword of your domain and look for sales of similar names

actual sales data is much more credible than crazy appraisal bots

Depending on why he wants it back, it must be a valuable domain to him. Find out why he wants it back. If it is for sentimental value then be easy on him but if it is for a business that he just let slip away, you can negotiate a good price.

dont be too agressive on the price quote , probably you might want to visit archive.org or anything to find out the history of that domain , before giving him a quote. give and take...

it is a chance to get some money from the trade. Give proper offer and negotiate with the person
