After some time, effort and a little bit of research, I found out the
name of an agency sponsored by the Federal government that allows you to get a copy of your credit report "free".

At this site you can request credit reports from each of the three major credit bureaus once a year "free". There is no criteria to meet, when you go through this site. Again it is a free service offered to everyone once a year.

Believe it or not this is the first step toward saving possibly thousands of dollars on major purchases, such as a new house or car. Clean up your credit report (file), by removing negative items, omissions, incorrect data, etc.

If your credit score is too low, you get penalized by higher interest rates, thus you pay more money back at the end of the agreed terms.

Why not take a step now to work on getting a higher credit score. A higher score will tell your potential creditors that you deserve the best interest rate.

People who are from the following states are by "their" state law eligible to receive a copy of the credit reports "free" each year from the major credit bureaus (Experian, TransUnion and Equifax) without having to meet any necessary criteria:

    *Vermont
    *Massachusetts
    *Maryland
    *Maine
    *New Jersey
    *Georgia
    *Colorado

Take the first step and get copies of your credit reports, it's free through
this agency and remember you do not have to meet any criteria.

The name of the agency is: Annualcreditreport.com (http://www.annualcreditreport.com) or you can call
    1-877-322-8228
