Chandrayaan I is ISRO's ( Indian space research organisation) first mission to moon. Chandrayaan is Hindi for "Moon Craft". The spacecraft bus is roughly a 1.5 meter cube with a dry weight of 523 kg. It is based on the Kalpansat meteorological satellite. It will also carry a 30 kg probe designed to be released from the spacecraft and penetrate the lunar surface. Chandrayaan, India's historic moon mission, will be launched between October 22 and October 26. Director of the Indian Space Research Organisation's Satellite Centre Dr T K Alex and Project Director of the Chandrayaan-I mission Dr Anna Durai informed media persons at Bengaluru on Thursday that the exact date for the launch has not been fixed, but the window period is between October 22 and 26. I am very proud that ISRO has acheived so much with so little in the way of resources!! Kudos to ISRO Jai hind More about India in my signature!!
I will post when the launch is so that you guys can watch it!! for people who are abroad you can use this website http://www.alltimetv.com/indian/thumbnails.php?album=4 Code (markup): this is an all indian channels website ..go to doordarshan which is the national broadcaster then you can catch the launch live!!
The chandrayaan will be another milestone in the Indian space history and India will succeed in her effort. My best wishes
Yes and it would be a great day for India when it take place in space. I wish a good luck to whole team.
I think most of the scientists of ISRO are really proud and awaiting for that Golden day. (One of my friend is in the team).
I'm an Indian and no doubt I'd be proud to see India make its mark on the moon. But I dont see the whole point! When thousands of Indians are hungry, homeless and helpless... what are we doing throwing away millions sending a probe to the moon?!
Space technology is not useless, isro's marketing wing has worked really hard to get six nations to sponsor its mission.Plus once the technology is developed and is reliable it can be sold. Like we can put satellites of countries which dont ahve this technology or build them a satellite and then put it in orbit. This is big business and can provide jobs to thousands. So space exploration and technology is not all show off, it has its own uses
I'm not against anything. The business is there and I know we have already put many other countries satellites in orbit. But my question is why send a probe to the moon? I can understand development of space tech (for satellites, for missile systems etc) but why space exploration? There are wealthy developed countries who can afford to do space exploration... but definitely not us.
exploring moon has several advantages, like we can use this mission as the basis for our mars mission. Why should we go to mars?? We are using our resources very fast, as far as I can see we will run out of resource pretty quick, its not a question will its a question of when?? If not today at least in the future we need the resources from other planets!! So if you have the capability to explore other planets on your own it will be an added advantage. Plus it adds to the nations stature
Ghhaaa! Stop and think... resources (energy) wise I'd bet that it'd be far more easier and economical to utilize all the renewable sources of energy available. And this scenario you have predicted will not happen for at least another 200 years (very minimum), so you are saying that the people who are dying because of thirst, hunger, disease and good ol' wars should be ignored? All I'm saying that we should live in the practical present... I agree it would add to Indias stature but I'd rather see a India without poverty and violence rather than an Indian flag on the moon
Poverty and hunger are there in India I agree!! But will you stop using your computer if the government gives away the budget for power generation to provide free food for the people below poverty level. Knowledge and Innovation are key for a nation to grow and with growth the poverty will come down. Every nation finds itself in this state more than once in its journey India is no different. I think India has the power to spend 1000 crores yet look after its poor!! I might add India is not poor because of its space program but because of its selfish politicians and bureaucrats
^ Finally I agree with something you say... politicians aaargh! And knowledge and innovation are for people to grow... but what good will the poor gain by some scientists somewhere gaining some knowledge about space? And 1000 crores...? Hah! Our GDP is about 3 lakh crores! And Chandrayaan is spending about 400 crores... think what good we could have done with all that cash...
A whole new development Indian rockets will be powered buy a super strength Chili and curry solid fuel booster.methane to the moon, another small step for man and a giant fart into space, getta wiff of that you aliens
Every Indian should be proud of this mission. And the mission is going to be very cheap compare to many already done. Be a proud Indian.
I am happy to see something positive happen. It is better then all the politics and other useless issues on which they do spend money most of the times.
Watch the Videos of chandrayaan in my blog now!! I will also put the Live transmission of the launch on the blog dont miss it!! All the space techies must watch this!!
