The Federal REAL ID program doesn't work

In 2005 the Fed implemented what's called the REAL ID Federal identification program. In January of 2010 Florida implemented this new program and now requires all persons renewing or for the first time obtaining drivers licenses or identification cards to bring in social security cards, birth certificates, W2, W4, 1099, etc forms, or utility bills with your name and address printed on them.

Now you would think that when you bring this stuff in, they'd look up your social security number, birth certificate, etc, and verify that you actually exist, right ?

Well in Pinellas County in the state of Florida, they don't verify anything. The DMV does not have access to records other than their own, the only validation they can perform is guessing whether or not the seal on the birth certificate looks forged.

I know this because my 29 year old birth certificate has been folded in half for decades and the last letter on my last name isn't easy to read. When I went to the DMV to get my license back today, and suggested that they look up the number to validate the certificate, the person in charge told me all of this. All they do is make sure the paperwork looks official and then make copies of it.

The only response she had to me explaining in detail how easy it would be to print out all of these pieces of paper and forge a state seal that was in use 30 years ago, was that they are trained to spot fradulent documents.

That's right folks, the only thing between a terrorist or fraudster and a REAL ID card, is a person who has been trained to spot fake documents. It's not like terrorists or people who produce fake documents for a living have experience with forging documents or anything.

Why does the DMV even have employees ?
They should just install those self checkout counters like you see in grocery stores with scanners attached to them and software that detects fake documents.

but isn't this only a temporary thing anyways? How do we know that this is the end result of what is being done? The RFID program is being discussed as a new way to ensure data accuracy. Appears to me once again that indeed chaos is being created in order to leave a backdoor open to introduce something the American people wouldn't accept as of today.

It's introducing a false sense of trust in identification cards. No attempts are made to verify any of the documents you bring in with anyone outside of the DMV.
I think the whole thing is one big racket. Every step of the process takes you to a Government run agency with their hand out. None of this stuff makes anyone any safer, but it does generate revenue.

It reminds me of the immigration chaos before the Homeland Security act and ICE took over. Remember the visa the assumed terrorists received a year after 9.11? IMO all of what you have said is in fact being orchestrated to fail so that the American people will wind up accepting a much more powerful tool to be controlled under the pretense of "getting it right this time".

    e.g.: RFID chips
