Sometimes I get to thinking I live in the Twilight Zone. You guys have probably heard about the FDAs proposal to put Bacteriophage(aka Viruses) on lunch meat to stop some rare disease called Listeria monocytogenes that only effects about 500 people a year. You can read more about the article here:http://www.northjersey.com/page.php...FRXl5Njk5MTEwOCZ5cmlyeTdmNzE3Zjd2cWVlRUV5eTU= I'm not a professor in Biology, but something sounds rotten about this. Why would the FDA put a virus in lunch meat in order to fight are rare disease that only affects less than 5% of the population on an annual basis? I would just like to say that the FDA has a history of questionable activities. Most of you have probably never heard of the Bayer/Aids incident. Well, to make a long story short, Bayer allowed AIDs infected medicine to be sold on the American market when they knew it was infected. When they were busted, no one got in trouble, and they simply moved their operations overseas. Don't believe me? Check out the article here:http://www.ahrp.org/infomail/0503/22.php The FDA allowed Bayer to get away with putting AIDS infected medications on the market, and no one stopped them. Now, do you REALLY believe the FDA when they tell us this virus is good? The only thing I can say is eat virus infected cold cuts at your own risk. If you are smart, you will check the back of the label when you're in the store and avoid eating this crap.
500 people per year is actually a fraction of a percent of the US population. I dont live in the US, but I sure as hell wouldnt want any viruses on my meat! I'd stick to the butcher if I was you!
People put botulism in their faces already without any FDA permission. What's the big deal? why would schools and planes ban peanuts when the allergy affects about 1 percent of people?
