The FA cup thread

I saw a thread for the Carling Cup, and numerous others for the Premiership, and thought that one for the FA Cup wouldn't do too much harm :p

This year's tournament has seen Manchester United and Chelsea both knocked out in the sixth round, with Barnsley and Portsmouth reaching the semifinals at their expense.

Middlesbrough, Cardiff, Bristol Rovers and WBA are the other four teams fighting it out for the two remaining semifinal spots.

Pompey could be considered favourites to lift the cup, especially if Boro falter against Cardiff.

I thought it was fluke when Barnsley beat Liverpool. But was really shocked to know when they kicked out Chelsea too.I think they will continue this form and will win the FA cup.

I don't think they'll win the FA Cup but have a great chance of reaching the final. I see that Boro are losing 2-0 to Cardiff, which at this rate means there's only 1 Premiershite team left in the competition. Hoping that Bristol Rovers beat West Brom as well later and that would really leave the FA Cup open to anyone to win.

Barnsley are going to play Cardiff in one semifinal, with the Baggies taking on Pompey in the other.

One good news for the Tykes- Steele can play. Had they been drawn with West Brom, he wouldn't have been allowed to stand between the sticks.

I would say based on form this season, Portsmouth are hot to win it. Could be interesting though:)

Have to say they look favourites, but this years FA Cup has thrown up so many suprises that its open for any of the remaining four teams to win it.

I'd put money on West Brom - which would make an all Championship Final!

Got my semi final ticket today (and no I'm not interested in selling it), going to watch Pompey stomp on West Brom.

Should be a great day out, considering Pompey havent been to Wembley since 1942 :)

Was certainly a bit of a shock in the quarter finals though, we expected Man United to go through, but to see us go through and all the other Premiership teams go out was fantastic.

Alright folks, there will be one Premiership team in the final.... Pompey beat the Baggies 1-0.

As predicted by Campbell, Phillips was a constant threat.

I'll be looking forward to seeing any of the 3 teams win. Both Barnsley and Portsmouth have knocked out big teams.

Pompey vs Cardiff it will be.

Joe Ledley scored for them against the Tykes.

    They are the favourites.

But if Cardiff could beat Arsenal back then, they can beat Pompey now. Plus there is the added incentive of a UEFA Cup spot.

Well it was a great day, West Brom had loads of possession but never really looked like scoring, but then again we looked even less like scoring :) But sometimes thats the mark of a good team, one who can play like cack but still win.

To see some of my photos of the day have a look at Jen's Semi Final Pictures

Now starts the mad scramble for final tickets starts.

And with Cardiff qualifying for the final as well, we are pretty much certain to get a UFEA cup spot no matter what the result, although I think we can beat them, we can play ugly when needed.
