Doubtful... One, it wasn't a slap in the face. Two, they knew we were migrating a year before we did and never said anything about it either way. It's just one site... I'm sure they won't notice one less license sale.
Eh... they have tens of thousands of forums using vBulletin. Many larger than mine. Plus, what would they even actually say? hah
Well I believe if big forum like DP is moving to other software can give reasons to many members who are using VB, like the one member mentioned above. G!
Maybe... but I still don't see a point in them contacting me about it... Like what could they have possibly said to make me change my mind? Probably nothing (other than make vBulletin better... and they don't need to call me for that).
It would have been too late at any point. Like I said, all they need to do is make vBulletin better, they don't need to talk about it.
Yes good product is always a best policy, but getting regular feedback from big forums like DP is also important IMO. G!
They never did straighten out the VB4 CMS before moving on, I have four license's none will be renewed moving to XF. VB is a sinking ship.
They did... I probably filed more bug reports with them than any non-employee. And I was part of their alpha/beta testing team for awhile... But I ended up removing myself from it when I realized they don't actually listen to anyone. It's all good... what's done is done. XenForo is a fantastic platform... and vBulletin just isn't anymore. Quote from vBulletin's operations manager back in 2010: I wonder if he realized how right he was.
What kinda bothers me is that they are not willing to implement fixes to illogical features/"bugs" in vB4. Especially the blogs section needs lots of love. It seems to me that they just abandoned it and are interested only in vB5 now.
The company that owned VB when VB4 came out had a bunch of forums on the Internet none of which where moved to VB4 from VB3. They where selling VB4 to everyone yet didn't use it on their own sites. Thats when I know things where not looking good.
According to Internet Brands own documents they own thousands of sites. They are in many niches / verticals and many are not listed on their main website. As such they compete with vbulletin customers. Some of their websites do use vb4, but by far most do not.
Luckily I don't have a problem with spam. I just set up a few random questions and bots have no chance.
