The biggest threat to Google is Microsoft. They are still able to create a better search engine as for Yahoo they are useless for search. People search Yahoo because they use their many services in their portal.

PR thing degraded google search results. Since listing position depends not on your content but on how many other pages has voted for yours.
That has led to spamming/massblogging and is to collapse the internet domain soon. Google has to increase computing power to span all those sites etc etc etc.
People will become blind to Adsense advertisement and even more I know few ppl who close page if they see adsense since they suspect no valuable content behind there.
I think it's time for webmasters to place a kind of "NO GOOGLE" / "NO ADSENSE" mark on their sites to let ppl know the site does not use PR pumping technology and/or Adsence. :)

Simple facts which counter any google argument:

    - Just about everyone who uses the internet will have used google at some point.
    - Just about everyone who has anything to do with the internet has heard of google.
    - Most people who use Firefox will have easy access to google in the top right hand of the screen.
    - Google owns over 90% of the market.
    - Billions of people have used google and like it.
    - Google is simple and easy to use (even dumb asses can use it).

This is why google will never be beaten.

Could not agree more. Every new computer (virtually) comes with MSN as default, not everyone will change to Google or Yahoo.

With Yahoo search results you seem to get quater of a page of ads before the results followed by a further quater page of ads again. Most regular users do not like that, they want a real results and therefore move to Google for their answers.

Although anything is possible and it could happen, it's most likely that it will not happen. Google will be here for long time and will probably expand it's offers and by doing that it will extend it's life and income.

Currently too many people relay on him and have it as their homepage and this is something that will also guarantee it's future.

    I have my fingers crossed.

    No comments and useless discussion.

Time brings changes as we were not knowing that Micosoft will launch Vista, XP one day and we will be using it on out computers. We do not see windows 3.1 anymore these days.

If there is something good that pops up one day who will remember this topic or google we will slowly migrate to it without even realising that we do not use google anymore :)

What will stay is people like us who will keep fighting to aquire that #1 spot on any search engine that has the golden traffic flood.

Although no one knows what the future might bring, its beyond imagination that Google will fold anywhere near the immediate future.

I disagree. When search engines only focused on "content", many people tried to even manipulate SEs through their contents, tried to maximize all the keyword density and other things. It was happening and because of this spam things, Google decided to change their algorithm with the PR and back link things. The result is far better because now (although people are trying to create back links through spam actions) at least their contents are created for visitors, not for SEs anymore like several years ago.

    actually yes
no 1 can be the king of any thing for ever

there are many big pro company can do that if they focus on it

google focus on search product more than any company on the world
they really work hard and hard for search engine
while microsoft or yahoo all go on another way
yahoo focus on portal and many service
yahoo search still so bad for some language
    same thing with microsoft
I will give when google will kill
if microsoft buy all linux company also firefox (mozila)
and live start lunch for every country
I’m sure if they doing that
google will loss many 40% of search operation
google stong on the web but it so weak on hardware and operatin system if we compire it with microsoft

also if yahoo start lunch his portal for all language I beleive they will hurt google

there are some region google not so good on it
    like arabic region
I know google good search on western but it give bad search result on arabic search
many of duoble content he not different between some arabic spelling ....etc

if I have money for least 1 million per month
I can kill google on arabic region

I’m sure I can do it more than any one imagine that

    nut where 1 million man

    dreams still dreams

Let me try to explain this the best way. If you get your drivers licence and buy a new car, chances are it won't be new, or it will be new, but still not alot of money. I heard a story that a woman bought a yugo and the wind blew her and her car off a bridge. Google started out in that yugo, then they bought a cadilac, now they are in a fully loaded dump truck, there is no way that any one could blow that dump truck off (kill google) without much work on colapsing the bridge.

What I am saying is that it would take alot to kill google or steal the throne. It would just be too much for anyone to do without actually "killing" google first. Possibly hack their servers. In this thread I said that google has 450,000 servers, so this would be VERY diffulct.

End of Google? If anything Google is just getting started. The fact that almost every single website is catering to their search engine just to get some traffic is a testament to how much Goolge means to the internet its self. In 100 years we will all be dead but Google will still be getting millions if not billions of hits per day.
