The effect of advertising a banned site on my site?

We are in the first place for some keywords in google, a banned site wants to advertise their services on our site. What happens if I put their banner on my site? Is there a bad effect for us?

    Please let me know,

If the banner links back to the advertiser's site then there's a good chance that Google might also penalize your site. Putting a nofollow tag would fix the problem but some advertisers don't want the nofollow tags on their links.

    IMHO ONLY.
no-follow will help remove effects, as will linking by java, both if possible.

However, you need to look at why they got banned, and if the cash gain from their advert, and the risk to the possible cost to your site in serps worth it ?

What do you value most ?
Your serps, or their money ?

Just what would go through my mind if it was me.

Googlebot has followed and indexed some of my nofollow links, so I wouldn't say that's a safe method.

Is the banned site after your PR vote, or just advertising?

If it's just advertising, create a javascript redirect so that it's not obvious where the link goes (especially for Googlebot).

Try to balance it. If you will have more visitors, then go.

You will not get banned from Google for linking to a banned site. But the banned site will not show up in Google. Its just traffic.

According to me no affect if the site is not violating Google Webmaster Guidelines as you can run adsense on a banned website so you can also run ads of that website on your website .. and this is not written anywhere that you cant advertise a banned website.
