If you haven't bought your domain yet, and you would like to rank #1 for a keyword phrase, here is what you do:

1- go to wordtracker free tool and find a keyword phrase that gets decent searches but not too many (between 30-50 is good)

2- go to google and type in the keyword phrases you are looking at and see what types of sites are coming up on page 1, are they established authority sites? Do the keyword phrases show up in the title and url ?

    If No:

3- Register a domain with your keyword phrase in it and get a .com, .net or .org domain, ex: www.mykeywordphrase.net

4 - Put up a blog on your new domain and make sure the title of your blog matches your keyword phrase.

5 - Make the first 2 or 3 blog posts at least 400 words and sprinkle your keywords throughout

6 - Get some incoming links.

If you follow this you can easily get to #1 within 6 weeks. :D

Nice tips you have given here. But the problem may be that all the keywords that you would like may have very high competition and .com, .net and .org domain may not be available.

This might work for some obscure search phrase but that's about it. Don't expect to see your domain #1 for anything that has any sort of competition.

That's a lot of effort for a fairly noncompetitive keyword (you suggested one getting 30-50 searches). So you manage to get to #1 (maybe), but what do you have? — Answer: #1 for a fairly noncompetitive keyword.

It can work for a small competition but not when your competition is high.

Yes these are good tips-I actually learned a bit. However the site content will ultimately determine how well this works. It should be helpful for a small, niche content site not a site with a zillion competitors.

    Good luck!

I've read about this strategy before and it does work for low competitive keywords. I am even considering creating a mass blog network and seeing if that will help scale the results of these keyword phrase domains.

I'm wondering if anyone would know if there is a difference between doing a mass blog network using keyword phrase domains or using a single domain, and creating keyword phrase subdomains instead.

Would using a single domain with hundreds of subdomain keyword phrases not be as effective as having hundreds of keyword phrase domains?

If the subdomain option works, I am considering using wordpress MU to create all the blogs.

any keyword phrases with any value at all will not be this easy to penatrate. this will work for junk phrases. but why waste your time? the best thing i could say about this is: if it's that easy to do, it's not worth doing!

that's right would be cool if you do thorough keyword research I mean research for competitive ones then after doing the hard phase comes the easy phase because you already know what to do.

+1. If your search term was "How to cook watermelon with your feet and your tongue" then you might be reaching #1 quite easy but other than that its very hard. Chances are some CNN.com or about.com or whoever has written about something close by, and you will be happy with link on page #2 of google.

Plug your blog into social sites like Friend Feed, Twitter, Facebook, That’s just to name a few it’s also best to plug your website into website directories like Blog Catalog, Alpha Inventions, by doing so you will defiantly see a increase in organic traffic.
