I am a designer who understands a little bit about HTML and CSS. And now I have to make a website for a non profit org and they asked me if I can make a website which is easily editable... My question here is of course which CMS is easy to customize and newbie friendly (like me)? Thanks a lot!!
Definitely use WordPress if you're a newb, but if you need secure e-commerce you'll need to use something more advanced like Drupal.
Wordpress is easy but a bit limited depending on what you want to do. Drupal is a bit more complex but it can do virtually anything. Some people say that Drupal is difficult to learn, but it was easy for me (maybe because i had never used any CMS before so my mind was not 'poisoned')
Wordpress isn´t CMS, it´s a blog software. You´ll spend more time bashing your head against the wall trying to get it to do basic CMS stuff that you´re better off just starting with Drupal. Use. Drupal.
wordpress can definately be used as a cms. I have seen many websites using wordpress for a normal website.
That's incorrect Mitch900. WordPress has more CMS behind it than most that claim to be CMS' on the market today. It may have started as a blog platform and initially been marketed as such but I'd argue it's easily better than 90% of the ones out there. Drupal, however, is an exceptional choice as well but certainly not for a newbie. For ease of use, WordPress hands down. or Concrete5 is you haven't tried it.
drupal +1 drupal can be great for the simplest blog, to the most complex, powerful website out there. it's powerful api and massive customization power make it the best out there..
