Inside the directory forums, you can only post news about your site - such as new designs and mods etc, announce your directory, announce price changes etc inside the Sols. and announcements forum. 99% of the threads inside that sub forum are free directory owners trying to build up their amount of traffic and submissions. Webmasters on a low budget contantly bump the threads "submitted one, please approve" even though the sticky at the top says not to. There are so many posts mods cant give warnings to them all. A professional webmaster like me, who wishes to announce news about his PAID directory, or wishes to find out about price cuts or special offers on other PAID directories, will find it impossible. As mentioned, all the free directory offer threads get bumped so much, within minutes my thread which only applies to webmasters willing to pay gets thrown to page 4 and never read. i think you should split this forum. One section for free directories, and another section for paid directories and other directory news, like announcements of new designs, new offers, new mods installed. Otherwise DP is becoming a place full of spam and "link approved" and other un-needed posts. The mods cant handle it, and it really bugs guys like me who are actually willing to pay and are not interested in the free directories. Mike
I am sure the mods can give RED to people that bump the problem is once they get banned they just come back. As i always say let only people with a domain name register on DP. A webmaster with out domain name is a a pilot with no plane.
No i think anyone can join DP, not just domain owners. Mods dont have the time, nor is it practical/necesary to red rep people.
yes it would be a good idea to separate directory announcement into the following cats paid directories free directories mods / templates bidding directories this will help me alot and others as well for getting more notice
I think the directories section should be shut down all together, Directories are such a "dime a dozen" these days that search engines just see them as link farms, But then again we need an area for the link farms, Just my thoughts
Be kind to starters. Not all starters can't afford to buy a domain then purchase a monthly or yearly web hosting, especially from those outside US. Splitting the forum into free, paid, etc., is more appropriate.
I'm glad is just your thoughts. www.avivadirectory.com think he got 25000 links in there for no reason? Directories provide quality backlinks which improve your SE rankings. Thats for another topic anyway. This thread is to voice my point that we need a seperate forum to keep all the free directory announcements out of the way....
Yea - your right, Lets not go off topic, As I can see that Jeff has you by the go-nads as well Anyone can buy backlinks Back on topic; I think its fine the way it is
well if you dont like directories, dont use them, and dont run them you wouldnt understand the problem with the directories forum...
