Mods love reports but we struggle to get through them all - and that just increases our reliance on you to make reports - we don't have time to scan the directory looking for trouble.

Your reports don't have to be long - just succinct
    • running up post count
    • spam
    • misplaced
    • dupe account (and why you think that)
I do, however, make an occasional sweep through S&A to clear out all the "submitted mine" type posts. I'm sure some users get burnt and I try to do it often so they don't get banned out of the blue.
    :)

I think you miss the point, "they dont understand English", otherwise they would get it right. :D
(they own directories to learn the language faster..."DIRPHONICS" , lmao)

    @an0n lmfao ... CLASSIC Example

I'm not seeing a huge number of "misplaced" reports... is the situation under control?

Apart from those 4 that I'll do now the most recent "misplaced" report is 70 days old.

EveryQuery was an asset to this forum and I guess he posted here because he wanted it to be seen by the people who could make a difference. OK this is a 3.5 year bump but the problem remains the same. If you can't moderate a forum then it's not a forum but a spamfest.

This forum has lost a lot of good posters in that 3.5 years...

It might be 3.5 years old, but at least it is relevant. If there are 17 moderators surely they have a better chance of getting on top of the mess than us 6 real users talking here (if there's more than 6 I apologise, but that's how many it seems to be)

I suppose we can focus our posts here on the spam threads. I can think of much more devious things to do, but let's call this DEFCON 2 :)

    Finally. Action!

I will report every post I don't consider offers any value to this particular forum - Anything short-one-liner IMO (unless it's from a seasoned poster making a jest or offering a quick insight) is worthless. If a thread is worthless (many are) I'll just do the thread/OP. They've gotta go, chainsaw sale at bunnings, time to lop down this forest of weeds... Timberrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!

Edit I've done my bit 15 posts/threads/people reported... Now off to do real work...

Dan, I might report your post for the heck of it.

I used to visit this section a lot to stay up to date on the directory industry and other information from well respected directory owners but very few have stayed with us on here. There still a few members who care about the directory section on DP but a few bad apples always have to ruin it.

I report posts not just in this section but other sections if I ever get a chance to pop in on DP forum. There a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes on webmaster forums as large as DP so members still need to report threads/posts. The more you you report, the more you drive the moderator nuts in having to read every single one. :p

    I'd expect nothing less!!! :p

The problem is that it isn't a few bad apples any more. I think it's actually a case of there being a few good apples, and barrels and barrels of bad apples with tart vinegar cider posts!!!

I've reported one in this forum 3 times now, and it's still there, despite having absolutely nothing to do with directories (hint: pong). It's all well and good reporting threads/posts, but if they aren't actioned, it feels like a waste of time. Sure, they might disagree on some of them, and you have to give the mod the right of discretion, but this one's a deal breaker. If they don't remove the thread, which isn't about directories, then this forum is no longer relevant and should probably be closed down.
