    Hello,

I have noticed that sometimes I'll get a PM, and I will get an email notification, but I can't see the PM in DP up to an hour later or so. Additionally, when I check PMs or delete them, they don't get marked as read or deleted for an hour or so. What's the deal with this lag? Is there anyway to avoid it?

    Regards

Yeah. I was wondering the same thing. It sucks to know I can't do anything to fix it. :(

Its due to database issue (database delay) so no need to worry as after some time it'll work again smoothly. Don't panic.

As others said, it is a database issue, and you can't really do anything other. Since DP is getting bigger and bigger everyday, there will be issues like this.

During such problematic times, if one is unable to remain calm, the best thing to do is log off from DP itself, only to return after a while. :)

I love DP alot too, even in my short period of time being a member here. This lag in no way defers me from loving and using this site, I was just seeing if there was a way to help speed things up a bit.

Posts & threads more than 2 years old could be purged to improve the health of the database. It must be really hard maintaining such a huge database. And its very expensive too....

If you created then relax and sit back as it'll live in action after few minutes only :D

If you created another one then both appear (duplicate thread)

Now I check the online members list and it says that I am the only person online... although there are lots of people posting and reply to discussions right now. :D
Anyway such problems and delays exist on high traffic forums but not a big issue. :)

I've been a member of other huge ofurms, but they never had database issues such as this. Maybe it's a fault in vBulletin itself.
