The difference?

I keep hearing from the media that the Dems might win back both houses of congress, but I'm wondering what's the difference from now and 2004? Didn't repubs win a few seats then, so why would there be such a huge shifts in political perspective?

I know there's a few things that may have scared independents with the repub party, but do you really feel it's that significant to be that huge of a change? I feel the same about them, and I've never voted for either major party. What are the chances that an independent such as myself is going to vote for the dems, if they never do?

What are the real chances that registered repubs aren't going to vote repub, in face of their alternatives?

I don't know, but I'm a bit skeptical that the Dems will get back either house, but I guess I could be wrong. I'm thinking it's more a matter of media hype. I'm predicting they'll get a few seats in both houses.

What do you REALLY think will happen?

They aren't going to win either; I'm more convinced of that each day. Polling is going against the democrats right now. Things could change of course, but I'd say dems will pick up 5-7 house seats and pick up 1-2 senate seats. I'd be surprised if it was more.

Which is unfortunate. I think republican chances in 2008 and regaining those seats in those houses is far greater by having the dems win the house and/or senate this cycle. *shrugs*

Then again, if the democrats fail to take either in Nov, the implosion could be wonderful to watch. LOL

I think its more a case of the democrats working against themselves then republicans doing anything right though. Complaining gets you so far, but not having anything to offer doesn't get you anywhere.
