well, this is a question I have, I don't have any idea. what is the difference between linux and windows hosting. on hosting websites they say linux hosting and windows hosting. what is the difference between those, I just want a website hosted. and wich one do you preffer, wich is better in your opinion
linux - php , mysql windows - asp , ms dbs but there are several other reasons will be there which depends on your requirements
Not much different between these two except the programming language that they support, type of webserver and database they use. Although you're using Windows on your PC, it doesn't mean you have to choose for Windows hosting. Linux hosting is enough to just host a simple site. well, have you heard of ELGG social network script. or phpfox, and dolphin social network. these: do they work on a linux host, or windows host. I am going to make a site, using one of those.
All the scripts that you mentioned are using PHP and use MySQL as a database. Linux hosting is all you need. No need to go for Windows hosting. - Dynashox -
Unless you are going to be using Sharepoint, get Linux hosting. If you plan on using Wordpress, definitely get linux hosting otherwise you might have permalink issues.
