This may be a crazy question but here goes. I know .com's are the king of all and .net's rank second however. If you have a domain like good keyword and it's a .name isn't is all the same? For example If you have rent.com rent.net and rent.name wouldn't all of these domains bring just about the same search results? If you were to develop and really market rent.name, couldn't it be worth just as much as a .com or .net. If you promote it, does it really matter to google what the extention is? Just a crazy question, help if you can.. Thanks
People find .com more brandable and easier to remember. Also .com if a good generic term gets some direct type in traffic, that .name probably won't. Just imagine your site being advertised on tv. What would you rather tell people to go and check, rent.com or rent.name? And even if you tell them go to rent.name, some might go to rent.com automaticly, forgetting that it was actauly .name they heard on tv. Rent.com might be your competitor, so now you are driving your potential clients to competitor? Think about it. As per SE traffic it all depends on SEO.
Ok but what if it is another CC like .in or something So if it would be rent.cc or rent.in would be better then .name right
like I told you as per seo it does not matter. .in is probably more targeted toward india, .name is supposed to be for personal sites I guess. You'll need to choose what you like most and who your target visitros are
.Com gets the direct type in traffic which can mean direct revenue, thats one of the main reasons a generic .com is king.
