The difference between a forum post and a signature

I am not sure if google knows the difference between a link in a forum post and a link in a signature. I usually add my links into a signature rather than a forum post. One of my friends told me a link in a forum post is more valuable than a link in a signature from the seo perspective. Do you agree with this ?

 

The Google bot reads HTML when collecting outbound links on a page. If the link is surrounded by a body tag, which applies to forum post links, then it is worth more.

I am not a huge expert in HTML, but usually signature links are written with the "a href" tag and ends in "</a>". Being the case, there are no body tags. In summary, a signature link would be worth as much as a standard blogroll or footer link.

Both the links are getting links from same page. both are do follow and placed with same anchor text. What is difference ?

Forum posting is posting your ideas or suggestions on a thread in a forum site while signature is where you leave in your post. Some forum sites allow you to put a signature after your post and this is a good source of traffic.
