To see 4GB you need to have 64bit windows xp. 32bit is limited at 3.5gb i believe.

And it seems they never tried any earlier Windows version, the older the faster and stable starting with Windows 98SE, the best of all them according to a large number of geeks if you googleit.

Previous to this last one, other Windows version could be considered now "experimental" and unestable.

Ditto. My laptop isn't optimized for Vista. I am going to use it until the CPU cycles fall off.

XP can never beat Vista. Vista is far better than XP...but you need a decent hardware configuration for best vista experience.

It is useless to compare XP and vista on low hardware configuration.

Yes I agree with Notorious, 98 was much faster! I did like 2000 to but now I'm stuck with vista and it does limit what I can do as compared with 98 & 2000 server

Thanks for comment on my sig ezcat [IMG]

It took a little bit time setting my signature this was indeed, but even then it was faster than XP and Vista.

I was about to comment about those good jokes referring to those pair of turtles (compared with WIN98SE) with your observation came across :)

You obviously did not read the original article because PC World magazine ran their lab tests on identical machines and XP was proven faster in the majority of the tests.

The article said XP was "faster" not "better".

The debate is not over...Take a close look at the PC system the comparison was performed on as well as what applications were tested. Vista is a high powered OS and the CPU on the PC system used for the comparison should have been the QX9770 and not the E8400. Vista is the future OS. In order to take advantage of this high powered OS you must have a new high powered computer...This is the future! Also, the comparison mentioned nothing about functionality or flexability.

Install a SP when it's available for public, not for testing. And don't trust torrents, with they "integrated" patches and SPs :)
