Care to summarize for us? Or do we all need to go sign up with a spam account to get this delightful piece ourselves?
It looks like we were spammed ourselves. Willing to advertise that it is there, but no one is reading it.
I'll summarize for you.... Mike Filsaime has once again taken the obvious, fluffed and filled it, threw in a couple of "hmmmms" and packaged it as something new. I thought I respected the guy until I purchased Butterfly Marketing and read it a few times... hype and filler = crap. Plus - DO NOT sign up for his Affiliate program for this new product! He DEMANDS you to include your SS# or he will not pay you -- yet this rich dude who makes millions from YOU, THE PUBLIC - won't spend the money to purchase a damn SSL Certificate to protect your most important number of your life - your Social Security #. Be careful when dealing with this clown... I usually don't speak about my peers like this but the way he's conducting Business at this point is very unprofessional!
I'm no expert on the internet, but isn't the "death" here not the death of internet marketing generally, but the marketing of crap on the internet? Seriously, who sees a sales page starting with "Dear Friend," and takes it seriously? It takes a very naive type to buy into that, and that type is going extinct. I mean, hell, 99% of everything on clickbank is total and utter crap. I can't believe anyone buys that stuff, let alone enough to make affiliate marketers rich. Who has not been received so much spam they're not yet weary of entering email addresses? The mass public is going to catch on eventually.
Actually, there's a ton of great products that use the old fashioned Sales Copy you're referring to. But yes - there's a major, major problem with most of these websites looking to make a quick buck... Mike Filsaime has lost alot of credibility in my eyes over the past 6 months. I find his Business ethics questionable.
http://www.thedeathofinternetmarketing.com/ The guy's name is Mike Filsaime Its a good read at least for the newbie, but what about his website business model what are you thoughts My view of it 1. Mike is getting some emails in his hands that he can do his email promotions with. 2. Mike gives $62 for each person that you refer and later on buys the manuscript code which costs $97. Assuming that he owns the manuscript he gets $35 and he gives you $62 3. He also gets referal money for people that sign up with clickbank following his lead. I am probably missing some details (quick review) but overall it sounds like a good deal for him and his referes.
I just finished reading it. I thought it was very well written and could easily have been sold instead of given away for free. I also admired that he had several opportunities to push affiliate links as he mentions certain people/products, but didn't. It's a testament to his statements that there is something much bigger in the works for Mike. Obviously the big goal is the double opt-in list and the further push to make him a "household name" in the IM business. I sort of cringed at the thought of the "skull" network. One of the hardest parts of IM for a lot of people is getting into the "inner circle" of some of these great IM people and getting their products pushed out to the market with their assistance. If the great IMers follow his advice, then the opportunities to push a product using one of these great minds (and great opt-in lists that they own) will quickly dry up, and people will have to group with others with similar skill sets (other amatuers) who are not yet rich/successful. Which comes back around to an interesting point: If Mike and the other big guys/girls begin creating these inner circles and leave the rest of us out, what happens then? We'll have to learn what they know for ourselves. How will we do that? By buying their products (Ahaaaa!) Pretty smart guy... I'm not knocking him at all, he definetaly knows what he's doing.
Umm.. anyone can earn a good income w/ affiliate marketing without joining these "inner" circles or buying products. Idiot
Well I would say every person using affiliate programs is an idiot than as they are selling someone else's products. This is just a tricky way to get an email opt-in list at the same time an affiliate to sell your stuff for you. This is a viral method whereby the writer would sell his stuff in heaps and also get tones of link backs to his site. So therefore every person running an affiliate program has his or her own way of getting people to sign up for it & you cant exactly call the people idiots who join them.
I've read it. Interesting report. Some people who don't earn much using AdSense and they have traffic should think about that report .
Based on Chios' recommendation, I did read the report. It really is a pain in the A$$ to obtain, but once you pull it up it's got some good stuff. But it's mostly high-level concepts, though. Don't expect any step-by-step instructions on how to set up campaigns.
I have tended to avoid anyone who solemnly proclaims the 'Death of...' anything. Usually, they are just sadly misinformed or trying to take advantage of the FUD factor (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) with unsuspecting people. In this case, it is more amusing than usual since the author is obviously doing Internet Marketing as he proclaims its death. Kind of like sending out a hardcopy mailing announcing the death of direct mail. I believe that it was in the 1890's that the head of the US Patent Office declared that everything that could be invented had been invented, so his office would be closing soon. LOL. Internet Marketing has been and will continue to evolve and change as do all marketing activities. It is the nature of business and humans that this will happen regularly. The Internet is so young right now, that marketing change will likely occur very quickly. But it will be change, not Death.
I was wrongfully put under this thread, I started this thread with same title but different subject apparently, I am actually not discussing about the book but about the tactics of distributing the book, but anyway. The title of the book is just a bait. My original point is/was that this guys is putting this "nice" title on the book, supposedly amateurs are buying this and start reading in and if the believe him they can either 1) start a clickbank account $50 and he gets a cut as an affiliate leading people to clickbank and/or 2) buy the butterflyScript (or whatever its called) apparently owned by him and that will give $36 to mike and $67 to the person that reffered the buyer to the website (thedeathofinternetmarketing .com) Well it seems like a win win situation for mike, the guy only paid or spend time creating the script (which by the way I have no idea what it does) and if people are send his way he will make one or both of the previous sales
Chios - IMO your observations are right on the money, but it gets even more interesting. He has two key packages for Butterfly Marketing. The first is the full Butterfly Marketing Product, which is books, CDs, tutorials, the works and goes for $1500. The second is the Butterfly Manuscript, which is stripped of the key scripts and software needed, but provides the core info. I've actually read part of the manuscript and honestly I'm not impressed. Granted it has a lot of useful info in it, but it just struck me as a large clump of great ideas with no real direction on what to do with it. It was apparent to me that while it contained a lot of information, it worked twice as hard (indirectly) at showing just how much you really needed the $1500 product to pull it all together. Pure genious on his part, but for the person that pays for just the manuscript? Blah. I'm interested though to see where he goes from here. He mentioned that he has teamed up with a controversial player in the IM realm, which my research indicates that it is the guy that made AffiliateProjectX... I bet that whatever they do, they'll do a lot of damage together. jrbiz - All great points. The only thing I'll elaborate on is this: He's not necessarily claiming that IM is dead and then telling you to join, he's moreso saying, "The old way of IM is dead, and I'm doing it the new way so if you want success, join me before it's too late." Kuraptka - You should ask questions in-turn instead of pegging someone an idiot. My point of that response is that the average nobody could become a millionaire nearly overnight if just one of these big names decided to push your product to his customers. If they all decide to create inner circles and work only with each other, then that is less of a chance that we could get in. Granted, the likelihood that we would work with them is slim anyway, but if everyone followed his advice, the mid-level marketers would refuse you as well and the only ones willing to work with you are other entry-level people like you that also have little to no customer base and are nowhere near being a "household name".
"The Death of the books starting with 'The Death of'" ....spamming it's way into an email inbox near you.
You are so pretty and so mean I agree with you, though. Too many people trying to make suckers out of aspiring entrepreneurs. wiz
