I have spent a great deal of time (and got great results for my customers) by posting interesting content on article resource sites. However recent changes in the Google algorithm have devalued the worth of these links as part of a wider SEO campaign. I was just wondering what strategies other people are looking into as a replacement for the once useful practice of article marketing?
I don't think I will replace it completely but I won't put as much emphasis on it as I have in the past. If the content is still great, you could still have some success with it.
How about posting articles on your own site, establishing your site as an authority in its field, and going from there? I have never understood why authors post content on other peoples sites? If your going to take the time to write an article, post it on your own site.
Amen to that! It's always better to publish content on your site first so that it can become an authority. You shouldn't be working to make Ezinearticles or any other article directory rich. Build a solid foundation with high quality content, establish your site as an authority, AND THEN think about submitting your content to articles directories.
Article marketing isnt dead at all. Rather its one of the most powerful marketing methods. With recent google algo changes you have to make sure you dont create duplicate content of your articles; thats all. I know lot of people spin articles for marketing. Probably those folks would get effected.
Don't believe the hype... Article Marketing isn't dead, it is just one part of a proper Content Marketing strategy. Don't underestimate this answer because it is simple.... YouTube
After the the Google farmer update- I was still able to help a client go from page 7 to the top of page 2 on Google in a few days time. It was primarily by writing quality articles and having anchor text to their site URL...
I have been creating web 2.0 sites and blasting them with Drip Feed Blasts. That has helped me quite a bit.
If you took a hit from the latest update you were not going about things the right way in the first place. It's google's job to return the most relevant return for (x) query. In order to rank well you have to make the site actually relevant. This is not exactly subjective and certainly not accomplished by hurling a bunch of links at the problem. Nigel
I think we should publish on our site first then re-publish in other sites later because google really hate duplication.
If you build your own site, you can use whatever affiliates you want. Think of the possibilities! Markets change and adapt - content included. It doesn't mean that content is dead. People have valued information for thousands of years; that isn't going to change.
