Has anyone [here] ever been to the dead sea? I was just reading about it and you can float right in the water effortlessly because there is so much salt in the water.

It's also the lowest body of water on earth... it looks like a pretty amazing place to visit :)

I was there - also lying in the water. Personally I don't think it's possible to walk over the sea - but I never tried and will never. The water is really salty, I don't like that much of taste. ;)

You should give it a try. They have some really nice mud, all over the world you have to pay for this, it's free there.

When you're already there - you should also step by the sea of Tiberias - it's wonderful there. And all the other places, of course.

It would be an interesting experience, I think. There are a lot of pictures of people goofing off, floating in it on Google Image search. :p

You can't walk there? You can only float on that body of water because of it's high density level..

Been there. The floating stuff is cool, but after two minutes its kinda boring.
Also most of the people in the water are old people who came for psoriasis treatment, etc. not very sexy.
plus, the water are smelly, and the salt kinda burns - your eye, any scratches or paper cuts or zits you may have....:)

And the worst thing is the whole area is commercialized, in a cheap bad way.
Not my favorite type of vacation. If you're visiting the middle east, Egypt is a better place to go.
