The day the bots died? badderadder & adderrobot sites "Unavailable"?

Discussion in 'General Marketing' started by timsdd, Mar 14, 2007.

Looks like another MySpace comment code change so I went to badderadder.com and it gave me a "Temporarily Unavailable!"

    I was like huh.

Went to adderrobot.com, it said "Site temporarily offline, we'll keep you updated"

STRANGE is it not?

    Coincidence or anybody heard anything?

Interesting. I wonder if MySpace took legal action against them.

    I bet that's a distinct possibility...

what are some of the other really popular bots?

    just saw these:

    BotTower.com is offline...
addnewfriends.com --- Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

I guess people with high friend counts now just got a little bit more value to their services.

And as soon as they do that, the big time users will start dropping off and finding other ways to satiate themselves, therefore MySpace loses a lot of good business and someone else gets it. Who will pick it up? Only time will tell.

Space Station still works, it's only the website that is down.

Adder Robot hasn't worked for quite some for me. :(
I've been meaning to email them to get a new version because I guess they had an update...I hope their program still works.

Y, I just wish they would put up or shut up. They blast users with ads like there is no tomorrow but then myself, I send comments to people on my profile who have Birthdays and my account has been locked twice for doing only that??? WT_?
sure, that may be the case - Badderadder still works (save the comments as of this afternoon). So the bots might continue to work until myspace renders all the code and makes them obsolete - again I do not know for sure if that is the case at all but it seems strange that 4 web sites are DOA today

The new owners of AR bit off more than they could chew IMO when they tried to come up with 2 completely new versions of the program. To be honest, I NEVER got version 3 running on my normal PC's (had to install it on a BARE W2K system for it to work). So the last real version that worked for me was 2.3.4 - AGES ago.

I think it's likely that MySpace shut down the websites. What a shame. :(

and here I thought having a big a$$ bankroll would be a good thing in that maybe they could keep the site up for longer than 3 hours at a time without a major malfunction!

MySpace is likely to shut down these sites, especially what they are doing is basically mass-friending.

What scares me is any other legal implications.... MySpace has the right to shut them down? Scary. I at least hope they just negotiated with big ISPs and server companies, or *something*, just so long as the government isn't involved.

My point being - if my ISPs or server companies were involved, I can bitch to them about it. MySpace needs to fix their vulnerabilities, not attack little guys.

mass whatevering wouldn't even be a problem if some of the *#^@*nuts didn't abuse the &#(% out of the system...not to mention the dark side of phishing and all that goes along with that.

I have nothing wrong with individuals or bands promoting their digs, it's all the other bull crap that's got myspace all worked up.

BUT unfortunately too late now, everyone gets punished b/c of it.
Yeah, I bet MySpace now has teams of lawyers and enough $$ to throw towards combating this type of stuff.

but you're right, if they kept on top of things it wouldn't even be an issue.

Yeah... it's probably all the pornographic messages that get spammed (www.myspace.com/nin) and advertisements for FREE HOODIA/etc...

Hopefully not. We technically don't know what happened. Time will tell....

    addnewfriends.com works for me!

I have been using this bot for quite some time now and they have been really great with the updates. As of this morning, the CAPTCHA bypass still works and they were the only bot to get that feature working.

Doubt it will last too long though.

MySpace like chewing gum and kicking ass; and they're all outta gum!

I started wrting copy for a guy with a MySpace product last Wednesday; his site had been taking down by Saturday. MySpace got in touch with his host and his account was suspended; no-one bothered to tell him first... AND he didn't even have MySpace in his URL!

MySpace are on the war path all right... pricks.
