I think "mass murderers and serial killers" is a bit over the top, but military training does create "killers". Hopefully, the results of that training stays on the battlefield, but even when it does there are repercussions that result from taking an 18 or 19 year old kid and instilling in them an extreme hatred towards the "enemy".

Of course they're murderers, homosexual rapist, torturers.. an army of scum as every moral person who is not misguided by the false doctrine of "patriotism" into supporting whatever their country does, unlike the Little pink no-balls , will acknowledge.

That opinion is so extreme it is laughable. Some of the most honorable people I have ever known I met during my service in the military. The other side of that coin is some of the most misguided, angry, and hostile people I have ever known I also met in the military.

When I went through Army Basic, there were many soldiers that joined for the same or similar reasons I did; which was a belief in the United States and the importance of serving to protect the freedoms we enjoy. There were also those that were somehow able to avoid a jail sentence by joining the Army. The majority of people were somewhere in the middle. Some did it for college money, some joined to get out of their small town.

I would hesitate to lump all "Soldiers" into one category. There are extremes in the military, just like there are extremes in religion, politics, and so on.

WebdevHowto, in my belief, "I was following orders" is not an excuse. Everyone has to go into their own grave, and be judged by God for their own actions. If you're ordered to kill innocent people, you should rather die than follow that order.

I agree, this is exactly how I would describe those "brave mujahadeen" in Iraq using women and children as shields and children as suicide bombers. I had no idea you felt so strongly against your "brethren."

No surprise on KOS. They've long since turned their support to hezbollah and hamas.

That is a good point, I don't know of anyone in my unit that wanted to "kill innocent people". The soldiers in my unit, myself included, did follow our orders and went to Iraq. We never had a "kill innocent people" mission.

You do not need to follow an illegal order. Most Soldiers will take a wrong turn because of the break down in chain of command or when the command like this administration is made up of people with no military knowledge and sadistic tendencies that decides to justify torture. There are some sick bastards that will take advantage of war situation to commit crimes but this kind of rapists and murders are in every part of society looking for an opportunity as you can see their supporters in this forum who dream about doing the same thing but don't have the chance.

    Let the ripping begin.

    1. So we should have let the Germans Gas the Jews in the second world war?

    2. We should have let the US be split in two in the 1860s?

    3. We should have let the British take us back in the 1812 war ?

    4. We should have never revolted in 1776?

    5. We should capitulate to all our enemies, lay down, and die?

    6. We should have never saved France and Europe from economic ruin and total destruction by the Germans three times (remember the 60's, the cold war, the economic rebuilding we undertook after the devastation of the Second World War)?

Oh, and by the way, your god, according to the bible, has killed more people than our military has in this conflict. Your god is much more bloodthirsty than the U.S. Government...

Thank God I don't follow God.

Now, go be a good little sheep and follow the rest off the bridge.

How is your post related to what he posted? War is not an excuse for murdering civilians in cold blood. Have you ever heard about war crimes?

Saving the Jews wasn't possible without nuking Hiroshima and Nagasaki and firebombing Dresden?
Of course God creates the death of every living thing. We cannot judge God rather God is the one that will judge us.

So isn't it God's willing that US troops kill Iraqis ??

After all God defined everyone's destiny, so he must have a solid reason for all those killings.
May be he wants to put all those 'innocent Iraqis' in heaven, thus US troops are only a medium for a noble cause... ;)

You have made the classical theological mistake of mistaking God's Will for his Pleasure. I can explain further, God Willing, incase you are seriously interested in an answer to this question and did not pose it in an attempt at sarcasm.

Umm no. I've had this discussion too many times now.. and it always left with a long (And sometimes heated) line of arguments with no apparent outcome.
