Fact and Fiction I would say. But why wouldn't Jesus Christ have a wife. He was a Rabbi. And at the time of his death was 33. Majority of Rabbi's would be married by than. A few of his teachings covered marriage. Why would he discuss teachings of marriage unless he had no knowledge of it. I once heard and read somewhere - "There must be opposition in all things" So if there needs to be opposition behind the theory of whether Christ was married or not. Than so be it. It only makes us seek out more knowledge about the subjuct. The same goes for Darwin Theory, Big Bang Theory etc. And by Merriam-Webster definition of theory is: http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/theory Take note to all 6 definitions. I would say the Da Vinci code falls under the definition of theory and quite well.
You raise a deeper question. What is a fact? Facts, as it turns out, change. That is why science prefers theory to fact to explain what seems patently obvious. This reflects the reality that today's fact is tomorrow's myth and vice versa. So, it is may be accurately said that the book is a completely factual myth.
Within the context of . . . you know - the Bible, probably Jesus didn't get married because he knew he was going to die in his early 30's and that would be irresponsible. As far as the DVC I think it's a mix of fact and fiction, like everyone said. I also think Dan Brown is a serious wind up artist. I like that kind of thing sometimes though. Nag Hammadi texts as well.
worth reading, Angels and Demons is better, but the books are fiction with facts that support main ideas
Mass religion is over rated. So is Jesus. Why do people have to live in a fantasy and believe in men made stories?
