Did you think you were discovering something? Cookies are advantageous to ANY site that issues them.

Next, you might discover they are advantageous to users too. Because you don't have to do things like log in every time you visit this forum.

Well Shawn, I think that Cookies are a subject that you will see in the news more and more.

Everyone has known that they are used, but most (and you know this) do not know HOW they are used to data mine, some software makers consider them spyware, at least the more advanced cookies.

So then don't accept them if you don't want to use them. I'm not sure what the point is.

A site can "spy" on you without cookies. They can do it based on IP address.

So my best suggestion to you would be to not visit sites that you don't want them harvesting data based on you.

We do it within digitalpoint.com... We generate reports telling us how long someone visited the site, what path they took through the site, what was their entry/exit page, etc. All done without cookies.

The point is Shawn, that more folks through software programs (if they are aware and invest in them) will be able to disable cookies, adsense ads, and paid listings in search results through software.

In addition to that some types of Cookies will be outlawed if spyware laws are passed that are being introduced right now.

Shawn, I just seen you put your middle finger up in the air, that kind of cookie, really, tell Compar I do not want to be rude by leaving right now but I must go into town. Please review the link I left in the opening post and you will see the type of cookies that will be outlawed.

But I must leave, I have to go into town.

I'm starting to believe you don't know what you are talking about. Not only does that page have no useful info (only links to other sites), but not a single page it links to has any mention of cookies (of any "type") being banned legally. In fact, some of the pages you link to don't even have the word cookie IN their entire page.

Sounds to me like you are making crap up as you go.

You don't have to prove anything. If you want to actually answer any questions, read this thread.

Okay, since you are unable to read this thread, I will repeat for you: Exactly what type of cookies have the possibility of being legally banned?

Did your read the "Seattle Times Article" linked from the first post?

It shows that the companies are worried about a privacy backlash (LAWS)

Yes, and no mention of any type of cookie being legally banned.

I think you spend too much time trying to read between the lines of articles to construe them how you want them to read.

All right Shawn, then can you explain why they will not implement full tracking at this time, could they fear laws like Google's lead lawyer does? Please try to be the defence for these companies. It will make great forum chat. You may be one of their last supporters and defenders.
