This is a strange situation I'm facing:

My main site usualy has US target and US visitors, most of them from search engines.

Today on the other hand 90% of my trafic is .... Brazilian! And direct, not from search engines. WTF is going on? They are real visitors alright, most of them read multiple pages and have different visit lenghts. And they are hundreds of them. Am I making a hit in Brazil or what?

Now the true question: Is this kind of trafic dangerous from the adsense point of view? I suspect that they come from some sort of mass messenger or something.

PS: Curently I'm blocking the whole country, but I'm feeling sorry for that lost traffic. Should I let them in to enjoy my fine site and click on my beautyfull ads?

I think it's best to be safe like you're doing since a huge spike in unreferred, direct traffic is definitely a red flag.

You have done the right thing by blocking ads in that country. It could be something as innocent as your site been used in a school project or that a high traffic site there has run an article about you.

If they actually stay in your site and read a few page, i won't be worry..

I had same situation before, but traffic was from China, and it was about 10,000 impression in two day

A woman health site. I 've got a picture of virgin's hymen...and some dickhead used it in a Chinese adult forum, worst of all he leave a text link so everyone copy and paste it on the URL bar....
And those ppl donno english so they click whatever insight......

that forum can bring you insane traffic...it alexa rank 2000...if you want the URL of that forum you can PM..but i don't suggest you to get traffic from there

LOL, my site is a fan site, and I don't have naked celebs on it (althought sometimes I wish I had), so I don't think that this is my case.

I've had a crapload of Brazilian traffic once (it's worthless). It came from Google AdWords. I decided to buy a crapload of cheap 2-3 cent traffic from content ads, so I bid on thosands of obscure terms. Almost all traffic came from Brazil, despite the fact that I geotargeted my campaign for US.

    I dont use adwords either.

Is trafic from messenger counted as direct? Because on the site I have a "Send a link to this site to a friend" link. I had it for a long time with no problems, but i think that some kid in Brazil mass it to his friends? Hundreds of them?
