You may have read that b 5media have just raised $2 million for there blog network. Link.

    Unbelievable!

Anyway I am getting a much smaller blog network off the ground and need various people to help. Looking for quality blogs that want to join, as well as writers who want to get into blogging.

PM me if you are interested! MSN address would be helpful btw!

erm, why would that be unbelievable?

darren rowse has been consistently putting out good content and it's a matter of time before private equity and VCs get interested in him.

I am pretty sure the Weblogs Inc. went for $25 mill a couple of years ago.

    maybe to add on.

you gotta to figure that Darren's pulling at least $500,000 per year?

If you're valuing him on a conservative, p-e (price-earnings) ratio of 20 (dirt cheap for a tech company), he's conservatively worth $10m?

And if he has sold between 20% to 50% of b5media for $2m, i'd say the VC got a good deal.

    ---
go lookit the MySpace deal if you want to see a nice sized social/blog network transaction....

and i think it's safe to say that any of us could have the potential of doing a hotmail, flickr, friendster, myspace.

the only thing is why dont we?

I'm making a hole in my office wall where i've been banging my head against it....

Getting your people to join your blog network requires more than just asking. I think you'll need to prove to those joining your network that you have a hot blog or two yourself. :)

andreww, fair enough, good points well explained.

kineda, i agree with you, im just hoping to get a few small blogs on board to begin with, covering seperate topics, try and keep the traffic within the network. who knows what could happen..

i heard somewhere once 'never underestimate the power of teamwork' :D

I’ve also been thinking about starting a blog network. The advantages are more than obvious. Not only can we benefit from one another’s knowledge and experience but also from traffic generated from being liked to a network. I think a big reason many people don’t make more money blogging is because they get greedy and are always looking for the quick buck and never look at the big picture. You have to understand that some people are good at writing articles, other at coding plugins, yet others are better at SEO or even designing templates. Imagine if those people got together and started something and all worked to achieve a common goal? I think the best way to succeed is to join others and create something together.
