    I don't agree with u on this Shawn. Let's look into other aspects as well.
    We are seeing the post count to be large, it could mean the forum did exceptionally well before and may be it has fallen back now, its pretty common to notice as forum admin.
    The posts which are invisible could be in hidden forums or directly in-accessible forums which is only members who know forum id can check it up. This would add to the post count as well. There could be trash forum, mods forum and if properly tweaked the mods forum post number are added to the total forum post count for guests to check as well.

    And about to check if they are biggest, nah Shawn! They are already big, I don't think they need to boast off wrong records. Only small forums usually tend up using false community stats plugins :)

    geesh !! I don't know that too, may be they are visible to registered users with higher post count or for donors or age group restricted forums or etc... ?
    Only if we get little familiarize with them, we could actually assess the real situation :)

    Fair points, there could quite easily be hidden staff forums, or deleted messages that have been trashed rather than actually deleted.
