WebHostingBucket and Tekime -- G**gle did create the PR system (and the importance of Link Popularity), and because G**gle is the Most Popular search engine, can they really blame Webmasters for trying to profit from it using Bidding Directories?
What script/software do you use for your Bidding Directories (phpLinkBid, LinkBidScript, etc.), and Why do you use it (do you like it)?
I've been using PHPLinkBid from day one, I'm pretty sure the other bid scripts weren't out when I started so that's why I chose them. My main reason for sticking with them is they have a nice little community and the owners update and enhance the script regularly. Not much more you can ask as a website owner.
phpLinkBid. It's the best, well written, great owner, often updated, loads of free mods and templates.
I have been using the Linkbidscript. No problems with the script and top of it, its free. The only problem i face is that they have limited free templates.
Here is the key,if you get it for free and you put a free template then i guess you will not spend any money to promote it so why should i pay to list my site there? Also as i have notice many of these free done projects have a small circle of life.
This is not the case for me personally. I have used all my resources for link building, buying links and promotion. This is how i managed to break into the 4Lakh bracket for alexa in less then 2 months time. I know i have limited budget but i know how to prioritize them.
- Very good points, scoobby. - Also, the Support for a FREE script/software will probably not be as Stable or Consistent as a PAID script/software (should be)- if/when you have any problems.
There are certainly some underling benefits from using bid directories. In my opinion the outbid notice is the most powerful asset that bid directories have. Simply place a bid that is higher that many others and you will get instant outbid notifications sent out. A nice little email marketing tactic.
Thats the most annoying in my opinion and i think is not working correct.Even in mine bid directory that i have disable it used to send outbid notifications.
I know everybody will have their own opinion on the subject but there is additional information that can be gathered from the outbid notice. Like for instance I know the in the last couple of months submissions as a whole have decreased. I know which directories get frequent submissions and which directories are like ghost towns. I use this info to compare against my own network Another point is I like to visit the directory that sent the outbid notice. I want to see the submission. What I am looking for are bid directories because in my opinion if a bid directory owner promotes by submitting to other bid directories then that is a directory I want to do business with. Though the outbid notice may be annoying it can be used as a vital tool to measure the bid directory industry. In short I love the outbid notice because it means action is taking place.
1nspire -- Thanks for your insight. - I agree with your points about the Outbid Notice email. I have had "competing" bid submissions before that were submitted within a short time of each other to "outbid" their competition (which I'm sure they find out because they received the Outbid Notice email).
With the economic crisis worsening, does anyone have any suggestions or ideas to: 1) Maximize the physical amount of the Bid Submissions to our Bidding Directories? 2) Maximize the dollar amount of the Bid Submissions to our Bidding Directories? Thank You...
Did you actually read or understand what I wrote previously? Promotion = Traffic = Submissions. You can not influence how much people will spend. It depends on their advertising budget, and some people hire companies or individuals who promote their website for them so they're limited to x amount. Again, find ways to drive targeted traffic to your directory and you will eventually get submissions. If you don't want to take time to actively promote your directory then forget about it. People want value for their money.
