Never said you were, was just using it as an example... of everything wrong with development today.

Sites like that are GREAT to demonstrate what not to do when making a website; you can take ANY design they feature and list dozens if not hundreds of 'does this "designer" even know what a website is?!?' moments. Same could be said of EVERY template site out there -- again my favorite whipping boys of ThemeForest and TemplateMonster come to mind -- or the halfwit nonsense artists post on deviantArt; many of them are great GRAPHIC design, but are absolutely dreadful WEB design since as we all (should) know, the web is not print.

In a lot of ways I think that's the problem is that JUST as all those print layouts that led to a decade and a half of developers screaming "THE WEB IS NOT PRINT" has been bypassed by having artists draw pictures that are just as flawed -- yet because it's "pretty" and not print typography/layout folks we don't get to yell that at them.

    When really we should be.

In the same way all those "for print" layout concepts are not viable on websites, much of the nonsense PSD jockeys vomit up remain equally abortive when it comes time to turn them into legitimate websites. Perfect width and perfect height background images that don't have the ability to tile their edges being stunning examples of this -- you see it all the time because the people drawing the pretty pictures don't know enough about accessible layout to call themselves "designers".

Really a LOT of graphic artists THINK they can design, but design is more than making it look pretty. Design also includes functionality and usability -- two things that the people starting out dicking around in Photoshop are typically so ridiculously ignorant of it's shocking anyone buys their outright lies and delusions.

Hence why if you bring up accessibility or actual layout concepts they continue to spew their ignorant nonsense while refusing to acknowledge you even mentioned such concepts, as they have NO clue what any of those things mean or why they are important! At BEST they have heard the terms but since it contradicts EVERYTHING they've deluded themselves into believing, they won't actually hear a word of it.

Again ripe for comparison to foodies, anti-gmo, anti-vaxx, fundies and other pseudo-science quackery. What Jung called "willful ignorance" and has more recently been called "confirmation bias" and "cognitive dissonance" in psychiatric circles... and as I've said a few places much like the SEO snake oil, reeking of Goebbels "big lie" -- they've been spoonfed it for so long and repeated it so many times, they're convinced it's the truth no matter how much evidence contradicts that belief or how disreputable the source.
