The best ways to add affiliate links

I have several content sites with different topics. Until now I have Adsense on these sites. But because Google is lowering my income slowly during times (with the same amount of visitors), I am going to give up on Google. Because i am not a US citizen Yahoo is not possible. MSN is taking forever to start. So PPC will soon be over.

What is the best way to add affiliate links to content. Probably there more good ways. I prefer not to have them included in the content itself.

I have tried search boxes to my product site, but this is not very effective.
What should I try:

Banners
One product text boxes
Several products in one box
Text + picture boxes

 

banners = old and busted
test links = new hotness

 

Have you considered AuctionAds? It solves the international problem with being an eBay affiliate directly.

 

Personally I think you will do better with the links in the content itself.

 

In my experience, text plus picture boxes has the most click through rate.

 

I think I am going to try the text + picture. Because I have tried Adsense for a while, I was too much Adsense orientated. With Adsense CTR is the only thing that counts. But not with affiliate links. Selling is the issue. With text + picture I probably have lower CTR but more serious clicks.
