What is the best way to use your time?

A..Spend your time building 50 small sites get them ticking over organically in google and all earning around $1 a day

    or

B..Build one site and spend all your time (and money) on seo.

What do the big earners do, A?, B?, a combination of both? or none of the above

I would say it depends on how good your idea for "B" is. If it isn't unique or only a marginally good idea you might end up with an expensive "A" site. If you can do "B" well, it is more profitable. Just remember that the costs for buying domains and the overhead of managing the multiple sites can be high.

Building one general info site is good option especially if you a small budget like me. You can pour on a lot of topics in one site and then SEO. But if you have the resources to do 50 sites then I would do both. building,Maintaining, and all the articles that go into it plus the SEO on each site and promotion wight be too much if you cannot outsource some of the task.

It depends on a lot of different factors but in general I would say doa little of both. Don't have 50 websites, have 3 or 4, but try and make those 3 or 4 websites great. Write really unique content, offer your visitors a reason to return, and perform regular SEO on them all.
