When I upload jpgs to my blog page at http://www.surfimages.com/blog/ it seems some images get found very easily on google and some I cannot find. Is their a rule of thumb when labeling jpgs./# of characters to use? Example: kelly-slater.jpg or kelly-slater-surfing-huntington-beach.jpg Thanks, JE
There are many ways to do such things and I would suggest you try different things to see what works for you and just rememeber to seperate words with hyphens and play to see...
Well the suggested methods by experts is to be descriptive about the images and naming them assuming what keywords YOU would have used to search for them.
The text you are using with your image, it should be relevant to your blog page and it should be unique... so it is better to put image name related to your content, you must use anchor text. If possible use caption too.
I think, images can be optimized with naming them as your keywords. e.g. - if your one of keyword is "best shoes" then name your images as best shoes.jpg or best-shoes.jpg or best_shoes.jpg but in my opinion "best-shoes.jpg" is best naming style. It will be given best prominence to your website in terms of images.
Just be as descriptive as possible. Do a search on google images for like images and see how they are tagged...
If a keyword is present in the name of your jpg file, you'll have better chances of ranking higher for the said keyword.
