The best utilization of ad campains and keywords

I identified about a dozen keywords for the product I am selling via AdWords.
Are there any good reasons to spread the keywords over several ad campains as opposed to keeping all keywords in the same ad campain? (There is only one product being sold). Thanks for your input.

Depends on the location of your customers. For sure make each product its own adgroup. Reason is writing a targeted ad for each product to improve quality score.

No reason to spread across several campaigns.

One campaign with several adgroups within.

    One keyword per adgroup.

I split up keywords via niched adgroups, works like a charm! Great descriptions and gives you the ability to alter bids with ease.

Sure, you *can* start by dumping a lot of keywords into one adgroup. When you see patterns develop, you can split off adgroups appropriately.
