Search engines account for about 65% of my total traffic. Of that about 70% is from Google, 23% from Yahoo, 4% from MSN, and 3% everything else.
Google, MSN, NTLworld, ASK, Netscape, ComCast, AOL, and Sympatico search engines, in that order. Yahoo's search engine hates my sites for some reason.
Social bookmarking, definitely. This will increase your number of backlinks too, and then in turn will give you higher search engine rankings.
Since my site is new: word of mouth: 45% link exchange with similar sites: 20% social networking sites/forums (sig link): 15% search engine: 15% and increasing (90% from google)
MYSPACE!!!!!!! Search on google for Redirect myspace to my website. Its a simple 2 line code that you use in an actionscript, and include that .swf file in your website. It simply redirects myspace to it. I also found a "hack" that you can post in someone's comment page (include this swf file as a movie) and it will just redirect theirs to your website and crap but you will get caught and probably get your buttox beat since people take myspace too seriously. That is one wayon myspace. It will work for the first few times but then you won't get much else once ppl find out what you are doing. I just recomend putting pictures of random things up in your myspace and using a simple link on them to your website. Also, you can post image links on peoples comments with your website link. Anyway, me and my partner both have myspace accounts, and our display names have our url. We get about 300-500 unique hits a day from myspace alone. Usually between 3-10pm about 90% of the hits. Weekends are nuts. Last weekend I remember a day we had about 800 uniques in one day from myspace alone.
Utter rubbish. Redirect swf files are so lame. Geez. I hate those tricky redirect swf files. It's one reason I turn off all scripts from unknown sites (and I advise others to do the same), especially when browsing MySpace. Back to the topic... Yahoo and Google are good sources of traffic for me.
Search traffic is the best. Its also the most targetted traffic because they come searching for very specific information.
Short term solutions: digg, adwords and links Long term and significant traffic: SEO most of my traffic is from google now
