@ snowbird Thanks for understanding. I too wanted to rep - but most probably I did it few days back as I must spread it to give again Anyway, its through debates, interactions that we can take the industry forward - and I am always fond of constructive debate. What you say about directories on dropped domain is 100% true - but still.................. it makes us look fool to own/have PR3/4 directories after 2/3 years of hard work whereas those have instant PR5/6 directories though its the BRAND & QUALITY and not PR that count these days. Good that most people now understand the difference between a directory on dropped domain and an original one.
Ok, this conversation got me curious, so I hit AWStats for the entire year of 2009 for my craft directory. #1 Directory Critic #2 When We SEO #3 Directory Recap #4 Directory Rate #5 LinksAdmin.net (in spite of being in Other Niche and not Arts) #6 Directory Roll #7 IVS #8 Selbourne.com #9 100000directory.blogspot.com #10 free-directory-list.com Anyone else care to share?
I am sorry - as none of my 13 directories are well marketed/advertised and hence not listed on most of the directory lists. But one of my directories has following awastat - Google 219 219 - Yahoo! 25 25 - Baidu 9 9 - Lycos 8 8 - Unknown search engines 3 3 - Alexa 3 3 - Stumbleupon (Social Bookmark) 3 3 - Seznam 1 1 - AltaVista 1 1 Code (markup): Links from an external page (other web sites except search engines) - http://www.directorysnob.com - http://www.bing.com/search - http://www.whenweseo.com/web_directories/high_pagerank_directori... - http://www.directory-farm.com - http://www.greatdirectories.org/paid.html - http://www.directorysnob.com/index.php - http://www.seocompany.ca/directory/deep-link-directories.html - http://www.seocompany.ca/directory/web-directories.html - http://www.linksadmin.net/directories/index.php - http://www.lookooh.com/Internet/Web_Directory/Paid/PR_4_Director... - http://linkcentre.com/internet/search_engines/2.php Code (markup): I have just shared the directories of directory lists and SEs and not SEO companies - where my directory is listed and I get good amount of visitors from them. This stat is for the month of January -2010. Google rocks for this directory as it sends me around 500 visitors per month without any adwords or PPC.
Go ahead... dispute From Jan. 1 - 16 If you ask me, I can tell you that IVS list have the best-organized selection of directories that is if you willing to ignore Top100 part of that list. As a matter of fact vilesilencer.com general directories list is so good, we bought from IVS banner space but when it comes to numbers, they aren’t lying as you can see. Acceptable submissions or not is something for Editors to decide but as far as traffic goes I'm sure nobody will have objections to that fastreplies
Google has it within its power to stop these dropped domains from retaining PR. As I noted in this post, Google dropped the ball on this last PR export. No dropped domain had its PR zeroed. This is highly unusual. I think it is beneficial for us to regulate our own industry and protect our visitors from PR schemes. Although I see no harm in submitting to free directories if they are using a previously owned domain, I would consider such issues on any paid directory list and advertising. If you look to my webmaster advertising page you will see the following statement toward the bottom of the page: Can more be done to educate the consumer? Absolutely. While I reference Google's Webmaster Guidelines on some of the other lists, I should also work towards educating my visitors about dropped domains. I completely agree that branding is more important then what appears on the toolbar. Ones directory brand takes into account quality, features, exposure to visitors, reputation and much more. With a well branded directory it does not matter what appears on the toolbar in my opinion. It is important to note that for any "real" effort to deal with directories running on dropped domains, the major list providers would have to work in concert to have any real impact on the directory industry and dropped domains. While I have stated my opinion of submitting to free directories regardless of their domain name, I would consider working with other list providers to create a minimum set of quality guidelines to better represent our industry in the eyes of the public.
The amount of traffic people are getting from the lists got me curious about Alexa rating for the various lists. Here they are in Alexa rank order. Keep in mind some of the lists have other things on their site that get boost their alexa rating (forums, blogs, general directory, etc.) In addition, your directory will get more traffic from a web directory list depending on how they sort the directories. If you're buried deep in a list you probably won't get a lot of traffic from it. But if you're listed higher for some reason that directory list will get you more traffic. directorycritic.com 5,780 vmoptions.com 6,064 web-directories.ws 10,826 onewaytextlink.com 11,868 directoryroll.com 21,929 vilesilencer.com 22,080 addurl.nu 25,067 whenweseo.com 33,537 linksadmin.net 62,301 searchenginecolossus.com 82,827
I have voted for web-directories.ws because in the past I have used them and I was accepted straight away and it did my search engine rankings and page rank a world of good. The other directories take longer to respond and moreover many users are rejected.
WOW, one backlink from web-directories.ws did all of that! Amazing! Are you sure about that? Somehow I don't believe that was the reason. I'm sure owner added your site straight away because I know for a fact he himself hates read and follow Submission Guidelines and to wait for inclusion Not to mention, he hate when Directories Editors review submissions and reject spam fastreplies
First I may say that vmoptions.com is a very good site. It is definitely one of the best. I do find it strange that fastreplies runs a poll then steers people to his choice. I will gladly add you site back to the list even though you harassed me for a year to remove your listing. I stand by my review as it was my honest review. I had nothing to gain by it. The language in your replies was not something that should be included in any business correspondence. Customer service is important and our readers do not deserve having anything to do with Amray.com. Here are some reputable forums that you have been banned from. fastreplies banned from V7 forum http://www.v7n.com/forums/directory-announcements-promotions/89074-submit-http-www-amray-com.html ranter banned from V7 forum http://www.v7n.com/forums/directory...ons/108806-amray-web-directory-promotion.html ranter was banned from info.vilesilencer.com/forum for trying to rig a best free directory poll. http://74.125.93.132/search?q=cache...esilencer.com+ranter&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=ca The poll was canceled as a result. fastreplies banned from webmaster-talk.com http://www.webmaster-talk.com/submit-to-my-directory/123353-free-pr6-web-directory-since-2002-a.html fastreplies was banned DP Forum until a month ago.
Look, you can fabricate as many “wannabe facts†and bogus excuses as you want but they won’t to change real facts, the one even you can't deny. Fact, I said more good things about vilesilencer.com than about vmoptions.com Fact, I added your site to General List in spite of my own opinion about you personally Fact, I never said good thing about your site because you never gave me any chances/opportunities Fact, I care less if you’re going to add or not AMRAY Directory to your List Fact, I’m not making some story why AMRAY is not on your list and if you continue harassing me, I will post what you have submitted to AMRAY for everybody to see and if Editors rightfully rejected your submission so people can to form their opinions about who web-directories.ws owner really are. Again, you are fabricating facts not to mention why is being banned from forums is so important. What is your point here anyway? fastreplies
Credibility, eh? Lets see how credible your credibility is I don't see my user name in that link to webmaster-talk.com Even more so, I don't see anybody on that page banned but some user pradeepdot... Why are you continue to making up stories man? Don't be surprised if after people read your "stories" they will stop voting for you fastreplies
Thanks for pointing out my error. Here is the correct link http://www.webmaster-talk.com/submit-to-my-directory/123353-free-pr6-web-directory-since-2002-a.html
I also use other directories but mostly I used directory critic and vmoptions. I am just saying what I like that two. Other directories are just a list of site but that two has it's function to sort out new added directories or from high pr to lowest.
Your error? Would you like me to point you to couple more errors? Or better yet, why don’t we call them what they really are, lies? fastreplies
