What type of traffic would yield the best CTR. My wholesale site gets targeted visitors looking for a specific type of product. My visitors typically either find that product or leave.

Is their any type of traffic that is notorius for browsing and then moving on (via adsense ads).
Not really sure if this is an answerable question.

In my experience the most targetted traffic comes from the search engines

I use Google Analytics to see which traffic converts through to AdSense clicks.

I've found that my best new traffic comes from real links from other sites in my niche. Not link trade pages but "hey this site is cool you've got to see it" stuff. People who come from those kinds of links are about four times more likely to click my ads than my search engine traffic.

Also, my repeat visitors click 50% more often than my new visitors.

Notoriously bad sources of traffic include social bookmarking / cool site things like Digg or "Cool Site of the Day." The extra traffic is nice but the conversion rate sucks. You still get a spike in earnings, so it's hard to complain about, but building a site around that kind of exposure is sure to lead to low CTRs.

MSN traffic seems to be the best converting traffic source for clicks, in my limited experience.

I know that's kind of vague, but I thought I'd pass on my observation. I don't get anywhere near the numbers of visitors from MSN, but they sure are click-happy when I get them.

Agree. I tried one of those websites that offer targeted visitors to your website. It was a complete waste of money!

how can you track which users click on adsense ads? Once they click, they're gone
