The best forum software?

What's the best forum software nowadays in terms of security, features, customizability, user interface, administrative features, SEO, ...

Is vBulletin a good choice? And how does the upcoming phpBB 3.0 compare to vBulletin and other forums?

VB here too, it's easy to use and intsalling mods and skinning it is easy with a little reading. I wouldn't use anything else for a 'serious' forum.

I haven't used vbulletin yet.. but I have been doing extensive research and work on getting ready to set up my first vbulletin site. I have many phpbb sites, and smf sites.. and from what I can tell so far, Vbulletin seems to be the best option, especially for a professional site.

i dont think theres a "best forum software". depends on what kind of site it is. if you want feature rich, go for VB or IPB, if you want to be able to change every single color of the forum, go for IPB (over 1,500 lines of css, what can you expect?). if you want something simple, maybe punbb or phpbb.

you decide whats better for you.
