we are planning to startup a new portal in Malaysia.
seeking the options, what is the best ecommerce platform for mid size business, exclusively for Malaysia?
    Which can support
    Malaysia Currency...
    Malaysia language (if required)
Support Malaysia Payment Gateways (Inbuild Function)

I dont mind going for a paid version, if it offers upgrade free of cost.

looking forward to your good suggestions....

I would suggest you to go with Magento. Shopify is also good but this may have some restrictions while going ahead with payment terms.

Magento community version may fulfil your requirement.s

Sad to know about your pending status from Magento. You can even contact to any Magento certified developer for this stuff. And yes, Magento does support your requirements.

We run one cart on Volusion and one cart on Magento. Volusion has a lot of features that are not adjustable but it should cover everything you are asking in the post above. It is a 100% ready to go solution. Our Magento cart on the other hand requires a ton of upkeep for everything to run smooth but we have it so we can modify and change all aspects of the cart. We like both of the carts but volusions big downfall is they force you to host on their servers.

    I'm an expert at this.

Either go with BigCommerce/Shopify. If you have a bigger budget go with Magento.

    BigCommerce is probably the better.
Shopify is more customizable but needs lots of addons that could make cost more.
Magento is open source so it is extremely flexible. But setting up and customizing could be slightly more than the other all in ones.

Don't go with Volusion. They really try to nickel and dime you every penny.

Things you have to consider is bandwidth, expansion cost(upgrading plans), fees for sale(Shopify).

I'd say Magento is best for the long run.

I would recommend "Magento" for smaller businesses to use because everyone (developers) can understand the code easily.

Magento allows you to change currency in a jiffy. Magento templates are also available for sale if you want to add some spice on your site. There default templates are pretty good. I suggest you go through their 30 day free trial to test the waters so you know your way around the software. Goodluck!

i think Magento is good so far.
i have researched it thoroughly. good reviews from existing clients.
    payment gateways inbuild.
    all functions are click away.
    no hosting needed.
no need to pay attention to security side too.
    SEO side is also great.

All i can concentrate on my products range.

Magento all the way is the recommended eCommerce platform if that fits into your budget.. Yes, you are correct, you don't need to purchase hosting but you need to go for corporate edition.

Opencart and Prestashop are also good alternatives available but Magento is a giant name nowadays.
