phpld, esyndicate has a bug which is a killer bug for some sites. aka it disables link to the site using urdomain.com/somefolder it must be urdomain.com/somefolder/index.php or some file name. To make that link work.

PHPLD and Sitesift both are great scripts.I suggest you to test both of them and use the one which you like :)

Wow what a response !! Cheers people :).

Looking forward to joining here I post a bit on other places, but all work these days building websites, seo, links (endless task!), ..taking the rubbish out all sorts lol.

Will try phpld then, .. here a question when you get to the stage where you might want a link back can you ask for a link back to 'another website' to give each other one ways? ... Or will I have to code it into the sofware. PHP I hope :)

to use free script, I would now suggest site-sift, phpld2.1 can be easily spammed, (maybe I am wrong)

You are correct. Actually even phpld3.06 can easily spammed .
But you can reduce spam by installing some MODs.
You can try free version of eSyndiCat

For a free directory script, I would recommend phplinkdirectory 2.1. It's got nice features, and the best thing about it is it is supported by a wide community, so there are lots of free templates and mods around to help you improve your directory.

I usually was using phpld too but eSyndicat looks good. I will try eSyndicat in my next directory.
