    I know that DMOZ is used by Google and a bunch of others but DMOZ is a mess. It takes forever to get listed in most categories from what I can tell. They also seem to have too many dead sites still listed.

    I would have to say http://botw.org mainly because they are still around and have done very good for themself as well as provide great value.

    It's a good start for sure. And I'm sure, that Matt will categorize or do something in order to let webmasters find the most useful directories first.
