I thought that I was the only person to think of Taiwan!

Those bastards make me proud. Such chutzhpah they have!

I haven't found much information about becoming an expat in Taiwan.

Can you tell me why you are thinking of Taiwan?

Might as well add in the mix... Countries with no extradition laws too.

    From the choices, what's left?

I believe that each of us has reached our own individual conclusions.

Personally, Panama is my top choice at the current time.

Dubai has to be on the big list of places to never ever relocate.

1/2 that for improperly naming a Teddy Bear recently... Dubai does look like it would be an interesting place to visit..

My guess is they have about 4 years of oil left, hence the reason they have been building so much... I think they were hoping to import tourism from the West to keep the money flowing.. Wise investment in resources, though I think I would be saving up as well considering the oil is almost gone.

Hi! Why don't you try joining the expat forum for Taiwan? :) They have a lot of foreigners there.
I lived in Taiwan for some time. I worked there as an English tutor and I did many stints for various jobs that needed my English skills. They pay well and treat you right. They give you as much compensation as they can because they really give respect to hard working people, especially those who excel, well, most of them.
Taiwanese are very keen to cleanliness. I once ate for a McDonald branch in the mall, and there were a bunch of old folks who sat near my table. When they saw that I left a piece of napkin (a clean one mind you) on the immaculate white table of their mall cafeteria, they gave me mean looks! I was literally scared that a bunch of old ladies would kick my butt for leaving a napkin. People who spit on roads are not welcome in Taiwan, and everyone is quite organized there. Noise should not be over the top when it’s past 11 pm, or a police cruiser will be summoned.

I think I will visit Panama soon. I`m just so much happier in Costa Rica than I was a year ago in Europe, I don`t wanna take any more chances. :D

My next trip down should be in January.

This one should be less rushed than my previous trips to CR and Panama.

Let's meet up and see just how much trouble we can get in. :D

    Eric Volz Update:

On Monday, a Nicaraguan appellate court, in a 2-1 decision, found there was no evidence that Volz committed the crime and ordered his immediate release.

Nicaraguan Authorities refuse to release him and there is fear he will be killed in jail.

"Volz was convicted in February of the rape and murder of Doris Ivania Jimenez, his former girlfriend who owned a dress shop in San Juan del Sur. The small town is about two hours from the capital of Managua, where Volz lived and published EP Magazine, a bilingual publication that promoted sustainable eco-tourism in the Central American Republic.

The judge who found Volz guilty, Ivette Toruno Blanco, refused to consider evidence from witnesses and cell phone records that placed Volz in Managua at the time the murder was committed. She also found him guilty of rape despite the fact that investigators found no evidence that she had been sexually assaulted.

On Monday, a Nicaraguan appellate court, in a 2-1 decision, found there was no evidence that Volz committed the crime and ordered his immediate release. Since then, Blanco has made a series of excuses for not signing the papers, saying she had a flat tire, the court documents were not numbered correctly, and even saying they weren’t stapled properly.

“Why Eric Volz is in prison, I don’t know,” one of the appellate judges, Robert Rodriguez, said in a report filed from Managua by NBC’s Kerry Sanders. “As I said, there’s no way he can do it. Physically, he cannot commit it. The only thing that I’m sure of is that if they keep Eric Volz in prison, it is a total mistake.”

Even U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has weighed in, saying, “The court has spoken. We expect him to be released.”

well, you would always find something about each & every country which you wouldn`t like.... if it was indeed perfect than it would be heaven !!

but, onething which i`m sure of, is the fact that you wouldn`t regret settling in there...cuz, if its not perfect, its quite close to being one !!!!!;)

I've spent a good deal of time in Norway and a bit of time in Sweden.

The stereotypes about how beautiful the girls are -- ALL TRUE!

But, the girls don't like American men so much. They are all looking for girly men they can completely dominate. It's a really bizarre cultural shift!

How do the girls in Finland compare?

How are the taxes in Finland?
