    New Zealand
    Australia
    Southern Spain - Marbella
    Italy
Or West Yorkshire (United Kingdom) - the weather's getting better and we have some great shopping places in Leeds now.

    What about the following?
    • New Zealand
    • Australia
    • Tokelau
    • Ireland

I'd like to see if those countries tax..

If I was single it would be Amsterdam;)
If I was married, and I am, I'd move to the Czech Republic. Not sure about taxes on overseas income but the essentials are pretty cheap ($.25 for a beer in the pub) and the living is good and the Country is very historic and the rest of Europe is close.

I'd say Portugal or Greece, Croatia even. But you'll probably have to start learning the lingo. Not sure about the tax situation, probably a EU thing anyway. Cyprus is also 'hot' as in 'cool to go to'. Or buy property in Slovenia. Within 30 minutes you can be at the Adriatic coast or in the Alps. And you can fly to any European capital within 2 hours. Now that's great for shopping.

If you call Amsterdam 'Northern' you should check out Norway and the day long darkness there.

I heard about Finland from some dudes from there. They said that's why Finland has the highest suicide rate in the world.

In Finland they say that if you haven't ever gotten frost bite, you're a wussy. Or something along those lines. This girl I once met had a massive frost bite scar/patch right in her face and apparently it's 'normal'.

Yeah, they told me about how they were walking home drunk at night at 50 below and took a leak. And it froze to yellow cubes before hitting the ground. They can keep that place.

You must have missed this part:

You went from one extreme to the other as far as taxes go.
    As for the rest:

Most of Canada does get pretty cold, the government is stable but not small, a lot of dead wood, our medical care is slipping down a slipperry slope, shopping is good but public transportation is bad, real estate prices are insane, even reasonably priced items get hit with a 14% sales tax.

Every place or country will have its good and bad points.
Small, stable govs many times are corrupt, controled by larger, stable countrys (not mentioning any names...lol).
Health care is sliding everywhere. Dead wood has always been around, part of life.
I love the ocean, and the mountains, and will be 10 minutes from both. So I guess its all relative.

Don't get me wrong I love Canada, it's just very expensive. I live in North Vancouver and from my house I can be skiing in 5 minutes or on the beach in under 5 minutes, it's all good.

Hmm you guys mentioned australia, i happily looked into it rofl and the house prices seemed quite a bit :p

BTW just an idea, if you suggesting a place try mentioning the rent for an apartment. The price of a house. And price for food and stuff like that lol, this way we dont have to google it up ;) (i know many of you did but some didnt)

Anyway if anyone is interested in NYC the ups are:

    -Awesome city

    Downs:
    Too expensive!!!!

    Houses go for 400k+
Monthly rent on an apartment: $1200-$3000/mo
    A bottle of coke: $1.50
Transportation: $2 for a one way ride bus/metro! Or gas: $3/g
    Climate: sucky!!!
    Taxes: High!
City will be easily flooded if global warming fastens up! :p
