you might want to look at Noah's classifieds
    http:// classifieds.phpoutsourcing.com/
comes with Fantastico in Cpanel (easy to setup and free to use)

or you might want to look at a commercial product: php classifieds

There appear to be some significant security vulnerabilities in Noah's Classifieds. Since the program isn't being updated anymore it doesn't appear as though the vendor is going to fix the problems.

I thought about using the script for a project but decided against it for that reason. I haven't found an alternative that strikes my fancy yet. I thought about going through and addressing the problems in the source code and releasing a patch, but the license agreement doesn't allow it.

Thanks for posting the security issues with Noahs. I was getting ready to set it up to test with Joomla. Have to look for something better to use.

I've been eyeing this script for a while: http://www.e-classifieds.net/.

Looks superb. But I don't have any experience with it.

Did not read enough to see if they have moved up to php. I was less than pleased with the cgi version that I bought about 5 years ago. That $100 was wasted. I don't want to slam them. The script worked but the config was a bear and it just did not work for me.

Are the two of you wanting to do something completely local or would you consider a free solution from a content provider where you might make a few bucks every now and then even on a low traffic site with no cost other than your time. On a volume site which I don't have you should do better.

I have a completely local version and and a national affiliate set of classified running on one of my sites. The national affiliate does better than the local only because there are always more ads. It is like no one wants to be one of a few posters.

Colbyt...no actually I don't know anything about this script other than I like the features it offer from what they listed on their site. However if you have a recommendation, by all means please mention it. Perhaps it will be helpful to someone here.

    Regards,

    Sunshine

    Hi,

Recently I came across World Wide Classified Script. It seems pretty good and it's only about $40 with lots of features.

A nice bonus is it even intergrates with several discussion forums including:

    Vbulletin
    PHPBB
    Mambo
    Joomla
    PostNuke
    Xoops
    Drupal
    Invision

You can read more here or see the demo here.

I'm no affiliated with this script, I'm just trying to be helpful.

    Sunshine :)

I personally use Noah's Classifieds (new and improved version was recently released in May 2008). It ain't free, but the script runs well, and the developers offer great tech support.

The one shortcoming of Noah's at this time is that its somewhat awkward to integrates a pay-per-listing routine into the website. However, the developers have indicated that an "e-commerce" version of their script (e.g., integrates with PayPal) will be available in the not-too-distant future.
