I still think the best, and easiest way to build links, is article marketing. Spamming free directories and webrings really doesn't work anymore, but article marketing does, because it gets your link in various different areas of the net, but still relevant to your subject. A good lot of larger sites syndicate these articles so you get traffic too. This article submitter is worth it's weight in gold. And I'm not being paid/endorsed to say that. It's been a really good way to jumpstart my client sites, I get them spidered, and they start seeing serps rather quickly.
Submit the same article to multiple directories doesn't work so well now. Google has its duplicate content filter.
I read somewhere on this forum, that Google does not penalize for Duplicate content. They just ignore the site and give more importance to a site with more unique content.
Writing, submitting, spinning articles, etc.. is not what I call an easy task. It takes quite a lot of time. The good thing is it could be easily outsourced.
I quit doing article submissions awhile back for the most part. I will usually write 1 article per month per website and leave it at that and only submit to EzineArticles. The links really never seemed to do much for me as far as SEO.
i will prefer use manual submission. Besides, dofollow blog commenting alos another good way to build link
I believe article marketing is still a viable method--besides being a cheap method--of link building. I'd be very interested in hearing what the reasons are for those of you who have decided to abandon this tactic? Is it really not working for you? Granted, I'm somewhat biased. I own an article directory--QualityArticles.com--but just in my experience, I've found it to be a pretty good way to get your links out there. As for Article Submitters--I'd love to make one special request of all of you who use them. PLEASE put your articles thru a text editor before uploading them to the submitter and hitting send! We reject, out of hand, articles that are improperly formatted! And if it's possible, be very vigilant about category selection. I realize, when using a submitter, you don't have a lot of choices, but please try to get as close a possible. I don't reject for this, but it's time consuming to have to correct these mistakes. One of my editors is very strict, and I think he does reject even for minor infractions! Best wishes to all! ~cj
About the issue of duplicate content--here's the info straight from the horse's mouth: Here’s Google’s definition of duplicate content: “Duplicate content generally refers to substantive blocks of content within or across domains that either completely match other content or are appreciably similar… In some cases, content is duplicated across domains in an attempt to manipulate search engine rankings or garner more traffic via popular or long-tail queries.†--in other words, duplicate content within the same website. This happens a lot when one posts to more than one category on a blogsite, so be careful. Google's concern are those seo manipulators out there, What happens is Google gives weight to the first (oldest) version they find. The rest are ignored, probably landing in the sandbox. They are not indexed. If this is only a few pages, this shouldn't be such a huge problem. I posted to my blog about this back in August. http://articlewritingnews.com/20/about-the-issue-of-duplicate-content/ I also reprised the issue in another post about using robots.txt to avoid the problem altogether: http://articlewritingnews.com/565/use-robotstxt-wisely-to-prevent-duplicate-content/ (There's a pic of my tribal spider tat there, too!) ~cj P.S. Would love to have some of you head over there and leave your opinions! I am a dofollow blog, by the way.
That was over a year ago, and I still do article marketing for myself and clients. It's no silver bullet for SEO but still definitely beneficial and worth your time.
I also prefer article marketing because it is a great method of building back links as it gives you with hundred percent relevant contextual back links that Google loves. And with that it helps to get good traffic...
