selling links is the only thing that works for directories.

my PR3 directory with 1000 uniques per day makes 0.00 to $0.30 per day.
I got a max of $0.80 per 3 clicks one day.

Do you get referrals from search engines ?

Adsense & YPN also works for web directories, only if you get alot of traffic from the search engines and they are not just webmasters submitting their sites. If they are webmasters just submitting their sites then there is a very low chance that you will earn from them unless you charge for link placements on your site.
